- Program Information
-
- On any one CoverDisk, you'll almost certainly find a program
- which requires one or more files other than those in its program
- directory in order to run properly. These extra files are usually
- those found in the system directories C, L, LIBS, DEVS, and S.
-
- For example, the most common additional files are 'library'
- files, found in the LIBS directory, ARP.LIBRARY being the most
- popular. You might find a data file needs MMPP, the text reader
- for crunched documents, which is found in our C: directory, or
- that a game written in HiSoft Basic will need the
- HiSoftbasic.library.
-
- If you copy programs to another disk and they suddenly stop
- working, it is usually because you haven't copied the associated
- extra files. In addition, some programs need to be located in a
- 'logical device'. This is what is set up when you use an ASSIGN
- statement, and to use programs such as this on another disk, you
- would have to set up the ASSIGNs in the second disk's startup-
- sequence.
-
- To do this, load up your Workbench disk, open CLI, and type:
-
- ED {newdisk}:s/startup-sequencem
-
- where {newdisk} is the name of (surprise!) your new disk. Move
- the cursor to before the command LOADWB and insert the ASSIGN
- statements found at the end of this document.
-
- The Info!
-
- In this document each month you will find a program-by-program
- list of exactly what extra files you need to run each of the
- programs. If a program needs nothing from outside its own
- directory, it will not be listed and you can copy it to a new
- disk by dragging its drawer icon across to the new disk.
-
- NB: SEE THE PROGRAM'S INDIVIDUAL DOCUMENTS FOR FULL DETAILS.
-
- This month's extra bits needed are:
-
- AmosCoinDrop:
-
- You should have a directory called ACD in the root
- directory of whichever disk you copy the game to. You'll
- find this directory in CoverDisk29's root directory.
-
- Also, the game uses its own font, called Ultra-Bodoni, which
- can be located in the CoverDisk's FONTS: directory.
-
- Please note that the game doesn't seem to enjoy running
- from Workbench, so you'll have to retain the run_ACD icon
- as used on the disk. This simply invokes ICONX to run the
- script. ICONX should be copied to the C: directory of the
- disk to which ACD has been copied.
-
- AmiBaseProII:
-
- This can be a little infuriating to set up on a new disk.
- The best way to use AmiBaseProII is on a disk of its own.
- Copy all the program files from the directory on the
- coverdisk to the new disk, then copy the files you'll
- find in the root directory.
-
- These are:
-
- .class, .index, .pass, .pix, .xtra, AMIBASE II, AMI_Default,
- AMI_Prefs, the KAG PRODUCTIONS directory, and the mfast.font
- directory from CoverDisk29's FONTS: directory.
